Welcome to DELICIOUS ECLECTICA!

I am Mirjana, and I’m thrilled to share delicious and healthy recipes that showcase true culinary eclecticism. As a lifelong foodie, I’ve been cooking daily at home for decades, even before the term gained popularity.
Encouraged by my family and friends, I’ve decided to curate recipes that are easy to follow, flexible, and open to creative adaptations. You’ve come to the right place if you’re seeking inspiration for quick and wholesome home-cooked meals. My focus lies in utilizing nutrient-dense, whole-food ingredients. While I create primarily vegetarian dishes, you can effortlessly adapt them to suit plant-based preferences. Occasionally, I also feature recipes that incorporate seafood.
The allure of flavors, aromas, and the vibrant colors of fresh produce, herbs, and spices often serve as my muse, influencing meals that reflect diverse cultural cuisines. Cooking intuitively allows me to blend ingredients for delightful and unexpected results.
Drawing from my family heritage spanning the old Austro-Hungarian region and the Mediterranean, I’ll share traditional recipes my family has cherished for generations. Additionally, I’ll showcase authentic dishes from the Vojvodina region, my birthplace.
Growing up in a traditional European family meant we lovingly prepared every meal at home and served it elegantly, regardless of simplicity. Long before the era of fast food, dining alone or opting for quick bites was unheard of. My childhood memories often revolve around visits to my grandparent’s home, where mealtime conversations invariably began with Grandma’s query, “What is mom cooking today?”
Recipes were passed down orally without requiring written instructions or cookbooks, preserving their vintage authenticity. Cooking skills were a rite of passage, and adherence to traditional recipes was a mark of respect for culinary heritage.
While women typically managed the kitchen, men in our family excelled in outdoor cooking and grilling. Uncle Jovan’s homemade sausages and carp soup, simmered in a cauldron with white wine and garden-fresh vegetables, were cherished summer favorites. Yet, his crepes filled with homemade plum jam secretly became my favorite.
Ah, the magic of good food! Join me on this culinary journey where tradition meets creativity, and every meal celebrates flavors and memories.
