Vibrant Floral Herb Salad with Tart Cherry Dressing

Vibrant Floral Herb Salad with Tart Cherry Dressing

This crisp and aromatic herb salad offers freshness in every bite. More than just a salad, it celebrates fresh, fragrant herbs and their flowers.
I combine my favorite greens and herbs: sorrel, fresh oregano, dill, mint, chervil, chives, green garlic, and cilantro. These herbs elevate the salad from ordinary to extraordinary, creating layers of taste and texture in every forkful. They infuse each dish with their unique flavors and aromas. When they bloom, their flowers offer a tender, mild taste that adds beauty and subtlety to the salad.
Planting your herbs provides access to these delightful flowers. Several pots of chives, cilantro, and thyme are sufficient, and nasturtium, with its decorative and edible flowers, stems, and leaves, steals the show with its sweet-peppery flavor.
Even without an herb garden, fresh herbs from the supermarket can be just as delightful. Spend extra time in the produce section to discover a variety of fresh herbs that will inspire your culinary creations. This aromatic salad pairs wonderfully with seafood, meats, or pasta, making it a versatile addition to your meals.
This salad isn’t just delicious—it’s packed with vitamins, minerals, and health benefits, contributing to overall wellness. It showcases fresh herbs’ incredible taste and health benefits, making it a delicious and nutritious addition to your diet.
To preserve their vibrant flavors, I keep the dressing simple:
Extra virgin olive oil, tart cherry juice, a pinch of salt, and freshly ground black pepper.
This splendid, refreshing dressing highlights the luxury of each herb without overwhelming it.
Try this recipe, and let the herbs shine on your plate.

  • Do not chop or tear the fresh leaves. Wash them quickly and dry them gently with a paper towel. Cut chives and green garlic into 3-4 inch pieces. Separate nasturtium leaves from flowers and leave them whole.
  • Make the dressing. Use one half and refrigerate the rest for future use.
Toss the salad until the leaves are uniformly coated with the dressing.
Taste the salad and adjust by adding more salt, cherry juice, or oil if necessary. The final
salad should have a balance of crispness, acidity, and a hint of saltiness.
Serve as is, or add some seeds or nuts for extra crunch, hard boiled eggs or seafood.
